As I was browsing the Internet, I found a link to a site with an article about a girl named Lizzie, who was voted as the ugliest person on YouTube. It turns out that she had an extremely rare condition (only 3 in the world have it). She took in everything that the “beautiful” people said on their comments, and got back on them in a way that’s not as filthy as their mouths.
Watch this inspiring video of her, and learn how she coped with it and what she did with her life.
For all the bullies who have shits for brains, this is what she has to say.
This is the video of her that is only a few seconds long but has over 4,000,000 hits.
I admire her courage and boldness to go through it all. She just proves to us that no matter how different we look, we can still achieve every goal we set. We just have to have the same level of courage, determination and self-respect that she has.
Now what I want is, to find her book, buy it, read it and learn from it.
One of the hardest struggles a person has is being true to themselves. A lot of people act differently. They act like someone who they’d like to be, but it’s someone who they are not and can never be.
They talk about things that they really don’t have… Things that they only heard from other people… Things that they really want to have but don’t have.
They know their weaknesses and flaws, and these trigger them to pretend to be someone they’re not.
They’re too scared to let people know their real situation because they think people will stay away from them if others find out.
They seem so strong and satisfied with the lies and stories that they make up. But in reality, their real struggle is accepting the “painful” truth.
I used to feel embarrassed when I didn’t have the cool toys my classmates had or when I had not gone to places my friends had. I used to call my Nanay “Mama” when I was in Preparatory when all my other classmates were around. I thought Nanay was for poor people only. We were not that poor, but we were not that rich. We weren’t even average. Perhaps, we were below-average.
I used to have insecurities, too. But I did not come to the point of making up stories just to look cool to others. When I reached my Sophomore year in high school, I learned that being true to myself would make me feel comfortable with myself. It made me love myself. It made me embrace my strengths and weaknesses.
This song tells us the importance of knowing and accepting who we really are. Jessie J reminds us that we are not alone and that everybody has the same struggle.
Listen to this and enjoy~
Who You Are — Jessie J
Kyla’s Version
(Kyla is a Filipina singer and is called the RnB Princess.)
“I stare at my reflection in the mirror: “Why am I doing this to myself?” Losing my mind on a tiny error, I nearly left the real me on the shelf. No, no, no, no, no…
Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars! Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing, It’s okay not to be okay. Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart. Tears don’t mean you’re losing, everybody’s bruising, There’s nothing wrong with who you are! (who you are)
Brushing my hair, do I look perfect? I forgot what to do to fit the mold, yeah! The more I try the less it’s working, yeah ‘Cause everything inside me screams No, no, no, no, no…
Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars! Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing, It’s okay not to be okay. Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart. But tears don’t mean you’re losing, everybody’s bruising, There’s nothing wrong with who you are!
Yes, no’s, egos, fake shows, like WHOA! Just go, and leave me alone! Real talk, real life, good love, goodnight, With a smile, that’s my home! That’s my home, no…
No, no, no, no, no… Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars! Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing, It’s okay not to be okay… Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart. Tears don’t mean you’re losing, everybody’s bruising, Just be true to who you are! Yeah yeah yeah”
Months back, we watched Step Up 3 and it was purely entertaining! If I would give it an award, I’d give them the “Most Entertaining Movie Of All Time That You Can’t Help But Dance While Watching Them Bust Their Moves” Award.
On Saturday, we saw it again in clear DVD copy followed by the two preceding Step Up movies. What I like about these Step Up movies is that the people behind the movie chose the real BFABs. Unlike most Filipino movie makers, they would have a famous actor or actress to star in a dance movie or a TV series and a double would bust some moves and do stunts that the star couldn’t do.
Let’s take the GMA TV series “Time of My Life” for example. Kris Bernal is NOT a dancer. She can (‘can’ here expresses ability) but she can NOT dance well. Yeah, I DO appreciate the effort, time and energy that she has exerted to execute the acts in a way that people will somehow believe she IS a dancer, but sorry, she is not really BFAB — Born From A Boombox — so I can hardly believe in the story. WynWyn, Yassie and Mayton are just few of those GMA stars who can get Kris’s role and I’m so sure they can do a LOT better. (No offense to all Kris Bernal’s fans.)
Aside from that, why do story writers have to focus AGAIN on the “mother-lost-her-daughter-and-met-her-some-time-in-her-life-but-didn’t-know-because-she-thought-her-daughter-was-dead” kind of plot?? Aren’t we tired yet of the Mara Clara tale? Can’t we just have the Glee type of drama? I mean, just light drama that can get heavy as the story goes on. People don’t need to see super cruel things like switching kids or having an enemy killed to make them cry or agitated.
In Glee, each character gets to have their own chance to be featured in an episode. Each of them shines. Each story can touch our hearts and make us weep. There are rivalries, quarrels, and fights. But none intends to really hurt their rivals. When Time of My Life was first introduced on TV, I thought that was a great idea. It was something different. But then again, to my dismay, it was just — yes — the old “mother-lost-her-daughter-and-met-her-some-time-in-her-life-but-didn’t-know-because-she-thought-her-daughter-was-dead” kind of plot.
AAAAAnnyyway, let’s go back to the purpose of this blogpost. Each character in all the Step Up movies has their own goals, dreams and aspirations. Some are not given opportunities, some are too hesitant to go for their dream, and some are still in search of their real selves. Technically, the cast are really into dancing and proficient in their talents. One example is Harry Shum Jr., “the man with no bones” in Step Up, is Mike Chang in Glee. He has also starred in Stomp The Yard.
My favorite characters here are Moose (Adam Sevani), Camille (Alyson Stoner), and Tyler (Chunning Tatum). Now, why did I get hooked in this film? Let me give you some videos from YouTube where they showcase their talents.

BONUS CLIPS: Kris Bernal on Time of My Life (the stunts were done by her double, mind you)
I haven’t been feeling normal these past few days and the only ways to feel good (aside from being with my family of course) are to smiz and to listen to music.
Here are the first 5 songs on my “Rakrak” playlist in Kulay‘s Windows Media Player tonight.
(Mind you, my WMP is set in random)
Disconnection Notice – Pupil
Anghel sa Lupa – Stonefree
Tomorrow Comes Today – Gorillaz
Lay Me Down – Dirty Heads feat. Sublime’s Rome Ramirez
I was browsing YouTube for blonde videos and I came across an animated movie. It said “If you can type, you can make movies.” It caught my eye so I clicked on the link and what I saw made my my eyes grow wide.
Xtranormal is really an extra-ordinary site that enables users to create animations just by clicking and typing. You can choose your actor’s movements, cameras, facial expressions, and gestures. You can also choose your character’s voice and language. You just need to type away the story and an electronic voice will convert your text to speech.
You may want to try it. Go to www.xtranormal.com and start creating your own movies! Enjoy~
My Gerpren May showed me this funny video on YouTube. It’s Annoying Orange. I’ve seen it somewhere before but didn’t pay much attention to it. Now I’ve realized I shouldn’t have ignored it at all. It’s freaking funny and it’s purely LOL. I can’t stop laughing and I am grinning widely while I’m writing this.
Here are some of the videos I’ve seen that made me laugh my arse off!
Enjoy~
Lady Pasta
Saw
Going Walnuts
Gerpren and I think that the person behind it is a genius. The name says it all. He’s a friggin’ annoying orange! His laugh was freaking me out and I just couldn’t keep my mouth shut. Hahaha!
Lemme just share with you my favorite clips:
- when Orange sang “Orange-Orange-Or’nge-Or’nge-Or’nge-Or’nge-Or’nge-Or’nge-Or’nge-Or’nge” in Lady Pasta
- when he called the eggplant Barney and a potato with a bad circulation in Saw
- when he sang “I’m an orange, that’s a key, there’s an emo clown on TV” in Saw
- when he played a Knock Knock Game with the walnut in Going Walnuts
Maria Aragon. The name of the 10-year old girl who’s now becoming more and more popular since Lady Gaga tweeted about her. According to Lady Gaga’s tweet last February 17th, she couldn’t stop crying watching Maria’s video. That was the reason why she makes music. “She is the future,” she added.
Since then, Maria’s cover of Gaga’s Born This Way took off and Filipinos began rejoicing and talking about her. She has been invited in a radio show called HOT 103. She was interviewed, she sang live, and even talked to Lady Gaga herself! On the show, Gaga admitted that she was having some troubles when a friend of hers sent her Maria’s video, and that triggered her tears to flow.
Just now, I found out that Maria Aragon has been invited to the Ellen Show!
Wow! Charice, Rin on the Rox, and Maria Aragon – all Filipina singers on YouTube who have made it on the show.
It’s really a great feeling that Filipinos are making their way to fame and stardom because of their talents. This is a really good way to show other races what we Filipinos have. (I’m not a racist so don’t get me wrong.) It’s just that a lot of other people look down on us. To be honest, even our kababayans look down on other Filipinos (sad truth!)
A lot of people say, “I’M PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO!”Oh, really now?! How about the Manila hostage crisis? The terrorists in the country? The good-for-nothing government officials? Do they make you proud? When they hear good things, they’re proud of being Filipinos, but when they hear bad news, they despise being one. So much for patriotism. Bullshit.
I think it’s better to just say, “I’m proud she’s a Filipina like me.” Or “I’m proud other Filipinos are making their way to getting known all over the world.” You know what I mean?
