Rapsa! – Corned Beef Macaroni Spaghetti

A few days ago, I suddenly craved for spaghetti. But because my resources were limited, I couldn’t get all the must-haves for spaghetti.

However, I was able to gather good alternatives to finally make my favorite food of all time.

First, of course, you have to sauté garlic and onion.

Then add in your corned beef and hotdogs. Season with some salt and patis (fish sauce) to taste.

Pour in your spaghetti sauce and some catsup.

Add some cheese. Let it cook. Add some pepper.

The taste actually depends on you. And it’s best to cook your elbow macaroni while cooking the sauce. Saves a lot of time.

Quick Press: Updates!

Hi! I haven’t posted in a while but I’m just dropping by to tell you what’s new with me. ;)

Last Sunday was my 4-month old nephew’s Baptismal. It was held at Chair of St. Peter Parish Church in Balibago, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Reception followed at my brother’s house in Cabuyao, Laguna.

Since it was a holiday in Korea last Monday, we didn’t have to go to work.

Yesterday was the beginning of my 8-hour work along with the other teachers. But I was really glad they kept my morning shift. I start work at 9 in the morning and end at half past 5 in the afternoon.

And today is special, not only because of the World Teacher’s Day, but because today is salary day! Yay! hahaha!

Photos will be posted soon!

See you and have a great day!

Happy Teacher’s Day to all teachers!

Remember…

TEACHING IS THE PROFESSION THAT TEACHES ALL THE OTHER PROFESSIONS.

Quick Press: POLETEISMO

I’ve been seeing news about a controversial exhibit in CCP and I’ve only taken a closer look at that issue just now. It’s what they called “POLETEISMO.” I am a Christian. I believe in God. But every person is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. I believe in the right to express ourselves BUT I also believe in limitations. What say you?

What was the happiest moment in your life?

Being born, being able to still celebrate the day I was born, and being able to give birth to 2 guwapo kids… :)

Ask me anything… ^^

Learning is Fantabulous!

Learning new things is one of the things I enjoy. These past few months, I’ve been spending my free time learning different sorts of stuff.

Last year, I began learning how to use Adobe Photoshop. As time went by, I somehow gained more knowledge and I’m quite better than before.

I really have my heart set on arts but arts isn’t interested in me. My father’s got the talent. My brother inherited three-quarters of the talent. And I only got a quarter. :D I love to doodle and to draw cartoon characters. Though I’m not a professional, I still want to keep doing it to somehow improve my so-called skill.

I love to edit videos or make slideshows. But I wanted to use a more astig video editor other than Windows Movie Maker.

So I downloaded Adobe After Effects. But man was it hard! It’s too complicated for a novice like me.

So I downloaded Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 instead. I watched tutorials on YouTube so I would know the basic instructions. The first trick I learned was the “Duplicate” effect, which duplicates your subject in one video.

I still have some items on my “Things-to-Learn” list that I haven’t fulfilled yet. Some of them are:

  • sewing (I am currently cooking up a new plan that I can spend my time on and that I can earn some money from. For now, I can’t tell what it is. Anyway, it’ll surely be posted as soon as it’s positive.)
  • playing the guitar (I am a frustrated musician. I love to sing and I know I’d enjoy music more if I could play the guitar while singing. I tried to learn it but I failed. My pinkies are too short which makes it difficult for me to reach some cords. But recently, I just thought, “Hey, why can’t I? There are smaller guitars anyway. And there lots of lefties out there who can play the guitar.)
  • cooking and baking (Well, if I love to eat then I must know how to cook, mustn’t I?)

There still are a lot more to learn. As I get older, surely, a lightbulb will appear above my head again as bright as the sun.

I’m not aiming to be a professional whatsoever. I just want to have this feeling of satisfaction and happiness that I get from learning new things.

Well, if others can, why can’t I?

Here are some of my works:

This is one of my favorites - instantly putting make up on a super plain face haha!

Rika’s ABCs

A – Alagon. My mother’s maiden name. It also stands for Audrey – my mom’s name.

B – Books. I love books – the look, the feel, the smell – they make me feel good. No, I’m not a bookworm. But reading is one good hobby I enjoy doing. I even thought of becoming a writer or an author, I just need to learn how to express my thoughts and ideas better.

C – Christian-Catholic. I was born a Catholic but converted to Christianism in my teens. Being a Christian taught me more lessons than being a Catholic. (No offense to all Catholics out there.)

D – Dark Chocolate. I am so into chocolates and dark choco is my favorite. I didn’t really like it when I was young (which is normal because kids like it sweeter.) I enjoy chocolates with almonds, hazelnuts, or any kinds of nuts.

E – Enrico. My father’s name. He was called Eric, Erica, and Ericbajns by his comrades. I remember liking everything that he thought was interesting.

F – Folk dance. I was an active student when I was in my elementary. My teachers would frequently choose me (along with my other classmates) to dance “Rosas Pandan”, “Igorot dance”, and others.

G – Gadgets. I just love gadgets. These electronic devices just amaze me every single time. Technology always surprises us with new ones – touch screen phones/monitors/music players, TV phones, phones with Microsoft Office, mobile Internet, camera phone with a high resolution, I can’t name all the others, it’s endless!

H – Home Alone. I saw my first Home Alone movie when I was, if I’m not mistaken, 6 years old. I remember my father took us to the cinema to watch this movie but it was so crowded that we had to watch it standing. And that was my birthday! Lucky, eh?!

I – iPod. I have a black 8G iPod Nano that I use to listen to music wherever I go or whatever I do. Music is a part of my “Rikaness”. Without music, Rika isn’t whole.

J – Journals. When I was younger, I tried to make my own journal. But because I was lazy and was not imaginative enough, I had nothing to write about. But now I realize that all my thoughts should be written down.

K – Kite. I have never, EVER, flown a kite, well, at least, successfully. I tried during our P.E in my grade school but it didn’t go up in the air. :( I never tried since then.

L – Laptop. My first laptop is the one I’m using right now – an Acer E-Machines D725. It’s cheaper than all the other famous branded laptops but it’s got good specs anyway. It has 2G RAM, 320G Hard Disk, 8x DVD drive and 5-in-1 card reader. It’s 6 months old and not fully-paid yet. (teehee~)

M – May Gelynn Carena. My best friend since I knew the world. She is the only person I know who accepts me for who I am and who understands all my misdemeanor.

N – Notebook. Something I MUST always have in my bag when I go out.

O – Okra. I’m quite a fussy eater. If there is a list of my “I-will-never-try-this-veggie-ever”, this will be at the top of my list.

P – PlayStation Portable and Pens. This is one of those gadgets I would like to have. I am also a child at heart and I enjoy playing games! I love pens, too! Color pens, sign pens, technical pens, ballpoint pens, gel pens, any pens (which includes PENcils..)

Q – Quez-O. The brand of cheese my mom used to buy when we were kids. I really hated cheese that time. Now I love it!

R – Roller Blades (Also called “inline skates”). My classmates used to bring their own pairs of Roller Blades at school. I tried using a pair but I didn’t manage to keep my balance. I have never worn any ever since.

S – Slippers and Sneakers. It’s more comfortable for me to go out in my rubber slippers or my sneakers than any other kind of shoes. So whether I’m wearing jeans or short pants, I just put my slippers on.

T – Ticklish. I am an extremely ticklish person so just a gentle touch on my skin or a hard poke on most parts of my body make me shiver.

U – Uzumaki Naruto. My favorite action/adventure Japanese animation. I didn’t like it when I first saw it on TV. I used to think it was a bit silly. But the Shippuuden episodes caught my eye and I started being fond of it since then.

V – Voter’s ID. My photo on it is the “most beautiful” picture I have! NOT! Sorry, but I ain’t showing it to you. Uh-uh-uh!

W – Watch. A must-have. I’ve got no watch now but I’m really looking forward to having it already.

X – X-ray. I have an X-ray film of my leg due to the traffic accident I got into way back 2005. It was like only a  few weeks after getting hired in my first job and I got into this accident! Good thing there was no broken bone! Good heavens!

Y – Yearbook. I wasn’t in my High School Yearbook because my school refused to include me. Reason? They overreacted.

Z – Zuma. A character I used to be scared of when I was a little girl. He still creeps me out until now though.
