About a couple of years ago, my phone’s (SE P990i) original battery stopped working properly so I suffered terrible months using a fake battery. I didn’t have any choice because that time, an original BST-33 cost P1,500 and I didn’t have enough money to buy one. So I had to endure shorter battery life — and it means shorter time for text messaging, only 3 to 5 5-minute calls continuously, 15-minute web browsing, 3 songs to play with music player, 15-minute gaming, and all these can happen only one at a time!
Sony Ericsson P990i has a light on the upper right corner. When the red light starts to flash, that means the battery needs to be recharged. Normally, with an original battery, the red light flashes when it only has around 10% power. Although the red light flashes, you may still text for several minutes more. With a fake battery, the red light flashes even though the battery icon says you still have 50% battery life. Then if you continue using it, your phone will just shut down because it doesn’t have enough power anymore.
I feared that one day, if I kept on using fake batteries, my phone would stop working. I also feared that if I didn’t use my phone soon, it would remain unused — for good! And I didn’t want that! And because I got a chance, I bought a new, and REAL battery — for a much lower price! Yay! It only cost me P550, which was a lot cheaper than in other stores. Some stores sell it for about P1,000 to P1,200. A year ago, it cost about P700 in Sony Ericsson centers. Now it’s a lot cheaper. I guess it’s because of the latest phone models that have been released by Sony Ericsson. New phones have emerged, hence the drop of prices of accessories for older models.
Anyways, I’m really excited to try out my new battery because I badly miss my phone. It’s almost four years since I bought it! And I will never give it up. It has everything I need — camera, photo editor, music player, Java compatibility, a notepad where you can scribble and doodle, Wi-fi connection, PDF reader and the best of all, Microsoft Word and Excel!
